DIY Canvas Wall Art

The other day I was sitting on my bed with these canvases trying to figure out how to use them for my room. I've had them for almost a year so I figured it was about time to use them. I had a roll of painters tape near me so this is what I came up with one lazy afternoon...

I'm not much of an artist so I needed something simple and easy to create...

I took blue painters tape and taped three stripes randomly across the canvas.

Mixed together some white paint with the coral paint that I used to paint this dresser

Pulled back the painters tape and....

 Ta-Da! I hung it above my "vanity" area in my room. I'm sorry that it looks like a complete mess here but I am still trying to figure out a nice way to organize my makeup/hair products (Suggestions please!).

I made this with the other canvas....

Next to my bedside table (pretty much the only other place in my room that it would go). I framed it with a silver frame that I needed to hang. I have one more canvas left and am still deciding what I want to make of it and if I want to paint another color or maybe staple some fabric around it? Any ideas? 

St. Augustine....

...is possibly one of the most wonderful cities in the United States. The atmosphere mixed with all of the cute shops and amazing restaurants make it one of my favorite places to spend the day. Luckily, it's only one hour from my house and my little brother lives there! Here are some pictures from yesterday..

This is the house that my little brother lives in...how amazing is it?! He lives in the lower half with a roommate. 

This is their super cute kitchen, its very old but I love the brick and old wood floors.

This is the one bathroom that they share. I love the tile and the stained glass window so much. Unfortunately my camera does not do this bathroom justice (I really need a new camera).

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to snap too many photos because my camera batteries died. But, I am telling you,  if you ever get the chance to go to St. Augustine, you HAVE to go and eat at "The Floridian". I am being serious when I say that if you visit St. Augustine without visiting this restaurant, you are seriously missing out. It is the best food I've had in a very long time and I'm depressed I couldn't take a picture it! Oh well, you'll have to see for yourselves :) Have a lovely day!

DIY:The easiest scarf you'll ever make!

I bought a cute skirt the other day on sale and needed a fun scarf to complete my outfit. So i got out some old tees and made this!

Here's how:

Take an old T-shirt or men's shirt (I got this from my Step-Dad, who seriously wears the craziest shirts!).

All I did was cut out a strip horizontally across the shirt, making sure that the button was in the middle of the width I cut. I cut out a few pieces and created this layered look..

But for now I will wear it like this (wrapped around my neck twice like an infinity scarf)...

So simple but it makes my outfit a lot less boring. 

You can also make it out of plain T's you have laying around..

I cut it into three strips and then stretched the fabric so that you couldn't see my very messy cut.

And TA-DA! These scarfs took me less than 5 minutes to make and required no sewing at all! Just some old shirts and sharp scissors:)

DIY Ruffled Coffee Filter Lampshade

The other day, I was browsing the internet trying to get inspiration for ideas on covering my lampshade. It was plain white and I wanted to add something to it. Luckily, I found this blog detailing an extremely easy and creative way to make a pretty ruffled lampshade for virtually no money! She used coffee filters to give it the look. So I'm going to show you how I did mine!

1. Fold the coffee filter in half
2. Fold it in half again...
3. Fold it in half one last time..
4. Fold a little triangular shaped crease at the tip (which is the part you will be gluing onto the shade)
5. Start gluing!

This project took me about 6-7 hours in total. It did get boring at times but when you've missed three episodes of gossip girl and need to catch up, this didn't seem so bad=). And after the first couple hundred coffee filters, you can pretty much do it with your eyes closed! I used tacky glue to glue on the filters but you can also use a glue stick or a glue gun. In total I used 520 coffee filters and it was so worth it! The project only cost me $5.

How pretty is it with the light on?! These pictures just don't do it justice. Hope you enjoyed! 

Coral dresser

I recently purchased this white dresser from craigslist. It was only $40 and I desperately needed a dresser since I had to get rid of my old one (it wouldn't fit in my tiny apartment).

Since all of my walls are white and I'm not allowed to paint them, I thought that I would paint it a funky color to spice up my room!

The color is called  "Coral crescent" by Valspar. It took some time to get used to but now I absolutely love it! (And no I haven't finished painting the bottom of the legs:) ) It's hard painting inside of an apartment!

I know I am being completely biased when I say this but I have the cutest dog in the world! I thought I would do a post dedicated to him because he is almost 5! That means that I have had him since I was 16. Weird to think about...
